The Android programmer is responsible for familiarizing themselves with existing id Mobile engines, bringing Mobile development to Android, developing requirements for new systems, engaging in iterative development in Java & C++, writing documentation and supporting the content developers professionally. The Android programmer should be proactive and prepared to take accountability for the development activities assigned.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years in the games industry or in professional Android/Java programming
  • Strong Java, C, C++ & OpenGLES coding and design experience
  • At least one shipped mobile title where credited as an Android or Java programmer
  • System programming and/or engine architecture background
  • Excellent math skills
  • Self-motivated, but able to receive constructive feedback and integrate into work
  • Excellent team player with very strong work ethic and a collaborative/cooperative attitude
  • Passion for game development and game technology
  • An understanding of and appreciation for milestones, schedules, deadlines and efficient game development processes

Desired Skills and Pluses:

  • Familiarity with id Software games, characters, brands and worlds
  • id classic game community background
  • Experience programming on hand held platforms
  • Substantial understanding of the Android & iPhone/iPod touch platform
  • B.S. in computer science or equivalent study in related fields
  • Game Engine/graphics experience
  • Gameplay & Logic programming experience
  • Experience with Boost
