id Software is looking for an experienced, highly organized and energetic event coordinator to manage the day-to-day planning and operations of QuakeCon, one of the most unique and highly regarded consumer events in the gaming industry.  The QuakeCon event coordinator will work with a the Director of Events for Zenimax, id Software management and the QuakeCon volunteer staff to develop, execute and grow QuakeCon.  The QuakeCon event coordinator must be able to anticipate event needs, meet deadlines, work well autonomously, juggle multiple high-demand responsibilities and maintain collaborative and empowering relationships with the volunteer event management staff.  Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Special coordination and collaboration with event’s volunteer management group and volunteer staff
  • Assist with hotel and event space review and contracts

id Software is looking for a talented and experienced programmer to help create the next big iPhone game.  In addition to its 19 years of world renowned AAA game and technology creation, id Software has been an innovator in iPhone gaming with multiple top-rated, top-selling and critically acclaimed games.  

The generalist programmer is responsible for developing requirements for new systems, engaging in iterative development in C++, writing documentation and supporting the content developers professionally. The generalist programmer should be proactive and prepared to take accountability for the development activities assigned.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years in the games industry
  • Strong C++ coding and design experience
  • At least one shipped title where credited as programmer
  • Excellent math skills
  • Gameplay & Logic programming experience
  • Self-motivated, but able to receive constructive feedback and integrate into work
  • Excellent team player with very strong work ethic and a collaborative/cooperative attitude
  • Passion for game development and game technology
  • An understanding of and appreciation for milestones, schedules, deadlines and efficient game development processes

Desired Skills and Pluses:

id Software is looking for a talented and experienced lead designer with strong production skills and leadership ability to create the next big iPhone game.  In addition to its 19 years of world renowned AAA game and technology creation, id Software has been an innovator in iPhone gaming with multiple top-rated, top-selling and critically acclaimed games.  

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage a team of designers, artists and programmers through every phase of development - from concept and prototyping, through full production and ship
  • Collaborate on game design documentation, write proposals and final docs for all aspects of the game's design
  • Collaborate with the team to design and build game systems and logic
  • Lead design meetings and group game review sessions
  • Determine tasks and create the overall development schedule
  • Manage day to day production and communicate project status to senior management
  • Continually review the game and provide feedback to designers, artists and programmers

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of game industry experience as a designer creating 3D action games, with at least one year as a lead or senior designer
  • Significant contributions to at least two shipped games, with at least one being credited as lead or senior designer
  • Strong understanding of world building tools and/or relevant 3D software packages
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and documentation skills
  • Broad knowledge and interest in game theory and design principles
  • Experience with story development and dialogue
  • Strong understanding of first person action shooters, their related technology and the tools used to build them
  • A thorough understanding of, and demonstrable experience working within a modern game development process, including estimating workflow, identifying bottlenecks and dependencies, evaluating work quality, and anticipating and proactively solving problems
  • A sincere passion for games and gaming
  • Ability to represent products and id Software for media appointments and trade shows
  • Confident and positive attitude
  • Solid technical knowledge of computer hardware and software

Designers are expected to work in a collaborative team environment in the development of entertaining and cinematic game play experiences. They are responsible for the documentation and world construction of these experiences. They are responsible for the implementation and tuning of the gameplay experience.
